The latest trend in biking is gravel grinder bikes. They are like cyclo-cross bikes with wider tires. I got excited by the idea of having one for spicing up my rides around home and also for the sand roads on Cape Cod where I often vacation.
So when I read about the Diamondback Haanjo Trail bike in Peloton Magazine, and then again in Outside Magazine I jumped in and got one. Ordered from Competitive Cyclist and assembled by Lou Cederberg at Pedal Montclair, it has turned out to be a blast to ride.
I managed to snag it for $1359 plus shipping, assembly, and pedals, but it is worth a lot more. With full Shimano Ultegra shifting and FSA cranks, HED wheels, disc brakes, it is a joy to ride. I took it in the woods and rode on gravel roads and a few rocky trails. It was great. I tried a few trails which probably required a mountain bike with suspension, but managed to get through without breaking anything or falling off.
More grinding ahead!
