Labor Day signals the end of summer vacation and time to get back to work. For our renovation it is the beginning of the next phase – real construction, to be preceded by real demolition. Last week our construction plans were approved by the Department of Buildings and a permit was issued. Crews have been ready and waiting for a few weeks, and now they can proceed. The first step is to remove the old roof, take down the roof trusses and frame the new roof. It has to be done quickly so a new roof can be put on quickly to avoid weather damage. We aren’t worried so much about snow, it is rain – thunderstorms can come through dropping substantial amounts of rain and hail with little warning. There will be a few nail-biting weeks. But that doesn’t keep the Jersey Girl from doing her happy dance! This video was shot in July.
