Here at the cabin – housing is available – at least if you are a bird there is plenty to choose from. Humans will have to wait until the renovations are done. Then we will warmly welcome family and friends. Maybe next year.
Never having met the previous owner I have to imagine what kind of guy he is. Bill P. is an avid and skilled hunter and fisherman and at the same time an animal lover. He put up about two dozen birdhouses on the property. He kept horses and chickens (maybe he ate the chickens?) I know he works as a salesman for a fuel company and lives in Denver. And I’ve learned that his parents still live nearby our place. I learned he is divorced and has a daughter. It is a rough sketch with a lot to be filled in to make a real person. But I love the birdhouses.
We also have a catering service too. Four legged ungulates are our best customers. Today we fed a couple of elk cows. One even made herself comfortable in the horse paddock. I have seen a number of deer browsing too. I am told that there is a bear or two that visit the property, but I haven’t seen them yet.
So I have been at the cabin for a week by myself – not totally alone, besides the deer, elk and birds, I have visited with friends and the neighbors, I enjoyed dinner one night with the neighbors and another with Amy (Agent 007) and her husband and daughter. I have been bicycling a bit and exploring the neighborhood via bike and car. I went to Denver to provision the house with a few needed items and Boulder to visit a friend. The weather has been appropriately spring-like for mid-May. No snow so far, but cool and now it has gotten cloudy with fog in the mornings and scattered light rain. But it is still beautiful despite the gray weather.
And I learned one more thing about Bill P…. he is a swinger:
