Einstein showed us that time is relative – in theory. I think it is in reality, too. When my grandfather was 99 years old we thought he wouldn’t live much longer (he made it to 101.) So we threw a big birthday party for him and invited the Mayor of Cincinnati to honor him. I was the “official photographer” and just as the mayor – a woman about 50 years his junior – was about to give Grandpa the key to the city I had to change rolls of film. While I was fumbling with 35mm film canisters Grandpa didn’t miss a beat. He distracted her saying “Did you ever notice that when you put your hand on a hot stove for a second it seems like an hour but when you sit next to a beautiful girl for an hour it seems like a second?” I miss him.
Because I am constantly monitoring the work the incremental progress seems slow and interminable. But when you step back and look and consider where we started and how much has been done suddenly I realize the huge amount of work that has been done from September to the end of January. I made a video to show how much work the crew has done ….
Soon after I made this video we passed the rough plumbing, rough electric and rough framing inspections. The framing inspection is critical because now the insulation crew has descended onto the project, and when they are finished next week the interior drywall and paneling can begin. Soon we’ll be turning on the heat, the electric and the plumbing! I am so impatient. When the contractor reads this he’ll feel the pressure. But I have no complaints. They have worked hard throughout the winter and made great progress. My problem is that I am getting really excited and want to be there enjoying the results of their labors.
The interior will have great light and an amazing view, this is the south wall.
here is a before/after
Onward!
