2019’s sorry stats

Sheesh, it seems every year I have new excuses.

I thought I was going to have a good year on the bike, BUT….

I spent January and February in Colorado hiking and skiing instead of riding the trainer. It WAS more fun than sweating in front of a TV while sitting on a bike, but when the weather warmed up and I got outside on the bike it was tough to get back into biking shape. I was making progress when I contracted shingles in late July, and no riding for a couple of weeks. After recovering from that (it wasn’t as bad as it could have been) I got back on the bike and trained and felt like I was getting stronger when…. CRASH! In mid September I hit a pothole, went over the handlebars and landed on my right shoulder and hip. The shoulder took the worst hit and it took until the end of the year doing physical therapy every single day to feel stronger and less pain.
So here are the sorry stats:

Yes, it is embarrassing.

But I did get in a late summer ride up Squaw Pass to Echo Lake on the side of Mt. Evans with my buddy Chris. That descent was amazing. Enough to make me get back on the bike and try harder in 2020.
