Maple Seed and Propagation are photograms of maple seeds. In the maple forests these seeds are a child’s playthings. We called them helicopters because of how they spin as they fall to the ground. These seeds are part of my fondest memories playing outside in the summer. They are everywhere and keep the forests healthy by planting new trees. The black and white photograms are made on collodion wet-plate glass negatives. The Propagation series images are made on Ilfochrome paper.
