In May 2012 Lisa and I joined Chris Harris in Tellico Plains Tennessee for some riding in the Blue Ridge Mountains and then the 3 State 3 Mountain Challenge ride in Chattanooga, TN.

First we rode the Cherohala Skyway east out of Tellico Plains – a great climb, nice road, manageable traffic, great scenery.  We stayed at the very nice Lodge at Tellico.

Then we drove down to Chattanooga  for the 3 State 3 Mountain Century and I rode the metric century, Lisa rode the shorter “fat girl ride“, and Chris did the full 100 mile century.  We had hot weather plus some rain showers.  It was a well supported ride with decent roads and nice riders.  There are a few challenging climbs and it gave me my first trip to Alabama.  The ride also passes through North Carolina making it 3 states.

If you do go to Chattanooga be sure to make time to visit the aquarium.  I’ll spare you the jokes about a fish on a bike.
